Hello Members!
Like many of you, I got my start in this business as a kid, holding a flashlight for my dad and pretending to fix things with plastic toy tools. When school was closed, I would tag along to the office, work summers as a teen, and return after college.
Early on, I came across a quote in a trade paper that stuck with me: “I don’t know why anyone smart enough to run an HVAC business would be stupid enough to run an HVAC business.” Whenever I feel overwhelmed by the job, I remember that this business takes a special kind of person. It has been a privilege to be surrounded by such dedicated and talented individuals in the MACC organization, and I want to remind each of you just how remarkable you are.
As owners, you don’t just wear some of the hats — you wear all of them. You’re the HR department, handling everything from hiring and firing to friend, mentor and counselor. You manage facilities, vehicles, service, projects, estimates, sales, and finances. You’re the CSR, CEO, CFO, and every other abbreviation all rolled into one. And beyond running the business, you’re an expert on air conditioning, not just in general, but on every type — from window units and splits to chillers and cooling towers. You know every manufacturer, every model, and every variation from every year you’ve been in this industry. The same goes for heating, whether it’s gas, oil, or heat pumps. You’re well-versed in ventilation, IAQ, humidification, and dehumidification. While most people specialize in one thing, you master them all. And just when you think you’ve got it all under control, life throws a curveball — the phones go out, or the roll-up gate gets stuck
preventing the trucks from leaving. But no matter what, you always handle it like a pro, just like you always have. You are truly the best of the best.
As my presidency comes to a close, I want to extend my heartfelt thanks the entire staff at ADS and to the MACC Board for their incredible dedication. They’ve all worked tirelessly to create new events and ideas that keep our membership engaged, informed, and educated. The board is actively seeking new members, and I encourage you to consider joining us to help continue driving MACC’s success. I hope to see you all at the end of the year Holiday party where we will welcome MACC’s next president, Mike Newman.
Sincerely,
Stu Ellert
